He graduated with honors from the Nizhny Novgorod State Academy (the vocal class - Professor A. Sedov).
In 1985 he began his artistic career at the Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Nizhny Novgorod, and in 1986 he became a soloist of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (Syktyvkar, Komi Republic), where successfully performed the parties such as: Edwin (Silva), Maritza (Tassilo) The Merry Widow (Danilo) Bayadere (Rajas), Sevastopol waltz (Sergei), The Gypsy Baron (Barinkay), La Traviata (Germont), Eugene Onegin (Eugene Onegin), Faust (Valentin), Madama Butterfly (Sharpless), and others.
From 1989 to 1992, Damir-soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, where he performed under the direction of renowned conductors such as E.Svetlanov, A. Lazarev, A. Zhyuraytis, M.Ermler in the performances: Count di Luna (Il Trovatore), Silvio (Pagliacci), Albert (Werther), Eugene Onegin (Eugene Onegin), Sharpless (Madama Batterfly)), Robert (Iolanta), Don Ferdinand (Betrothal in a Monastery). In 1993, after the success in international competitions, is a leading soloist of the State Opera in Prague (Czech Republic), where performed with great success under the direction of conductors such as: Doviko, Griffiths, Hju - Sen - Sen, Dohnani, Kulka, and others such parties as Rodrigo (Don Carlo), Renato (Un Ballo in Maschera), Germont (La Traviata), Rigoletto (Rigoletto), Eskamillo (Carmen), Fanuel (Nero), Valentin (Faust), Belcore (L'elisir d'amore), Rangoni and Shchelkalov (Boris Godunov), Scarpia (Tosca), Don Carlos (La Forsa del Destino), Egbert (Aroldo), Alfonso (La Favorita) Eletskii and Tomsk (Queen of Spades), Count and Figaro (Il Nozze di Figaro), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni) , Tonio and Silvio (Pagliacci), Marseille (La Boheme), Rudolf (La Boheme, Leoncavallo), Vladislav (Dalibor) and others.

His repertoire is very various and includes arias from operas, operettas and musicals, classic and old romances, popular pop songs, both Russian and foreign authors, the songs of the war years.
In addition to his concert performances, recently Damir devotes attention to the young performers as he is often invited to be a part of the jury of international competitions and festivals. Also he gives lessons and masterclasses for young singers and helps them to build a better career.
Recently he released a solo CD including romances of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Sviridov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Kabalevskij.
